Traditional Art – Day of Satinalia!

Watermark'd

Akina probably never experienced Satinalia/Feastday in it’s fullest, so I have a feeling when she gets the chance to celebrate it she’s going all out and making sure it’s a fun day for her.

Although I don’t know why she’d invite Cuán along, but it was probably out of goodness of “the Holiday Spirit” – and it was made really clear he shouldn’t…Do anything to her, on such a Holiday! Brutus, however, isn’t a Holiday person. He’s probably only doing this since the Warden (chilling dude who’s watching them) told him too. And you know you can’t say “No, f**k you” to a Warden.

Nutt is also trying to score with Autumn, which won’t work. Since Autumn is clearly meant for themself and themself alone god – no one else would please them.

Honestly though, it was a fight to figure out if I wanted to keep it like this with a few selective colours or fully colour it. Obviously, you can see which won – but it was a worthy battle! But the near-monochrome-esce colouring won it for me.

Traditional Art – An Annoyance in Training

Watermark'd.png

Oh Brutus, even when you were a teenager, you needed to deal with “annoying” people – more so your own sister, who wanted to see how far you’d go in training with a “loud, pesky companion who won’t leave you alone in battle!”. 😆

Who knew how on-the-ball she’d be about your life-long companions, eh? It’s like she could predict the future or something, who knows.

Anyway, I apologize for if this looks a bit off on your screens everyone, you can trust me in that it looks better in person. I’m just having issues in editing my traditional drawings again into looking like how they do in person and now how off they look on screen.

A good mate of mine told me there’s a certain numbers when you do your levels in your editing program that can make it look almost like how it does in person, but I have no idea how to do that as of yet!

Anyway, these two are from Dragon Age: ECHO, my fancomic I’m working on to improve on my art and worth ethic.

Digital Art – Old friends, new looks.

Happy Birthday, Michie!! I know this is about four days early, but I just…Couldn’t wait in posting it to be honest! And besides, I wanted to draw our first two characters, hanging out again in their new looks, new lives…New everything, to be honest! 😅

Luugs (once named Lugiuy oh GOD) and Luna were the first characters we roleplay with together, and the first two characters who really INTRODUCED us together as friends~! It’s amazing, honestly, how being in the good old “roleplaying character” community introduced a long-as-heck friendship!!
One of three long-term friendships that roleplaying gave me honestly. 💖

Honestly, if Luugs and Luna were to meet now, Luugs would be floored by Luna’s doll-like-appearance, and be smitten. “Oh gosh, you look so beautiful!!” I wonder how the two’s dynamic would change after all these years…

Lyubov “Luna” Ludmila belongs to Michelle Porter, AKA TwistedDisaster!
Yujin “Luugs” Gozen belongs to me, Marly Buote, AKA CottonCanada.

Digital Art – Winter Akina

Sorta-kinda testing out new drawing tablet I have, I also needed something Winter/Christmas-y of course. 😆 Akina is the most Christmas-y character I have: red hair, green eyes…She’s a winter-gal!
Sadly. her birthday is in May…So unless it snows in May (like how it does here in Canada at times), she ain’t a winter-baby.

Digital Art – Mirror

I did the line work traditionally, and it was totally easier than doing my line work and sketching digitally, hah. Maybe I’ll start doing this more often, my traditional sketching and lines are always more enjoyable anyway! Doing it this way also reminded me of some very old drawings I did of Brutus and Akina years ago (like, all the way in 2012 years ago!).

It’s odd, having a feeling of nostalgia and contentment doing something you remember doing ages ago. I remember when I first did the Brutus and Akina ones, thinking “I’m really am an artist doing things like this! It’s so much EASIER!”. 🤣

Near the end of this trad-digital drawing though, my tablet pen refused to respond to any input I did. I think it’s time to say good-bye to my Yiynova soon, it lived a good two years…

Traditional Art – Cleaning Glory

Watermark'd

It was a rare morning at home, resting with his scattered flower bushes and daughter resting in bed. He enjoyed days like these, alone with his Glory.

This was going to be a watercolour piece (as usual!), but I realized I should practice more with it. My watercolour work is usually a muddy mess, so I need to practice it so it doesn’t look horrid. Goal for 2018? Who knows!

With this drawing though – and the last Copic drawing I did – is that I need to find a way to blend and add other interesting shading to do it. Cuán himself turned good…Until I did his pants, which didn’t gave that light purple-shading I wanted. Again, more practice!

Cuán is from my webcomic Dragon Age: ECHO!!

Digital Art – Midnight Menagerie

Watermark'd

If you didn’t read Midnight Menagerie before, this fan art looks like “A DnD campaign with a Vampire and Rouge”, according to a friend of mine! Although, if that’s the case, Shawn ain’t doing a good job. He’s not helping Romero at all, good gosh!

On the account of digital painting, I’m still not that good at it. Honestly, I think Shawn’s face is a bit too chub, and his nose is off. Any good tips on how to paint noses and good faces, let me know please! I’m all up for helpful tips and tricks for the world of digital painting (and drawing/art in general!).

Work In Progress – Midnight Menagerie Fanart

WIP

Midnight Menagerie is a webcomic I adore so, so much. Bwillett, the artist and author, has been one consent inspiration in my own works as an creator. And, since I don’t know if Bwillett is going to make a Halloween image herself… I wanted too.

Besides, MM is her digitally coloured and produced comic, so it makes sense that I should use digital myself!

Also, yeah, I do need to add shorts on Rob. I don’t think he’d like his bits out in the open…

Traditional Art – Casual Conversation

Akina and The Warden, Krutis Amell. Why haven’t ya’ll seen many drawings of Krutis…? Well, he’s usually appearing in the comic more so than illustrations, so if you want to see more of him – go to Dragon Age: ECHO‘s site.

One thing I love about Krutis and Akina, they have a mostly-green clothing/colour palette with warmer skin + hair colours. I have no idea why that’s so fascinating to me, but it just is. It doesn’t help that Brutus has mostly a blue colour scheme and Cuán mostly has a red scheme…
