Digital Art – Old friends, new looks.

Happy Birthday, Michie!! I know this is about four days early, but I just…Couldn’t wait in posting it to be honest! And besides, I wanted to draw our first two characters, hanging out again in their new looks, new lives…New everything, to be honest! 😅

Luugs (once named Lugiuy oh GOD) and Luna were the first characters we roleplay with together, and the first two characters who really INTRODUCED us together as friends~! It’s amazing, honestly, how being in the good old “roleplaying character” community introduced a long-as-heck friendship!!
One of three long-term friendships that roleplaying gave me honestly. 💖

Honestly, if Luugs and Luna were to meet now, Luugs would be floored by Luna’s doll-like-appearance, and be smitten. “Oh gosh, you look so beautiful!!” I wonder how the two’s dynamic would change after all these years…

Lyubov “Luna” Ludmila belongs to Michelle Porter, AKA TwistedDisaster!
Yujin “Luugs” Gozen belongs to me, Marly Buote, AKA CottonCanada.

Digital Art – Winter Akina

Sorta-kinda testing out new drawing tablet I have, I also needed something Winter/Christmas-y of course. 😆 Akina is the most Christmas-y character I have: red hair, green eyes…She’s a winter-gal!
Sadly. her birthday is in May…So unless it snows in May (like how it does here in Canada at times), she ain’t a winter-baby.

Digital Art – Mirror

I did the line work traditionally, and it was totally easier than doing my line work and sketching digitally, hah. Maybe I’ll start doing this more often, my traditional sketching and lines are always more enjoyable anyway! Doing it this way also reminded me of some very old drawings I did of Brutus and Akina years ago (like, all the way in 2012 years ago!).

It’s odd, having a feeling of nostalgia and contentment doing something you remember doing ages ago. I remember when I first did the Brutus and Akina ones, thinking “I’m really am an artist doing things like this! It’s so much EASIER!”. 🤣

Near the end of this trad-digital drawing though, my tablet pen refused to respond to any input I did. I think it’s time to say good-bye to my Yiynova soon, it lived a good two years…

Traditional Art – Cleaning Glory

Watermark'd

It was a rare morning at home, resting with his scattered flower bushes and daughter resting in bed. He enjoyed days like these, alone with his Glory.

This was going to be a watercolour piece (as usual!), but I realized I should practice more with it. My watercolour work is usually a muddy mess, so I need to practice it so it doesn’t look horrid. Goal for 2018? Who knows!

With this drawing though – and the last Copic drawing I did – is that I need to find a way to blend and add other interesting shading to do it. Cuán himself turned good…Until I did his pants, which didn’t gave that light purple-shading I wanted. Again, more practice!

Cuán is from my webcomic Dragon Age: ECHO!!

Materials Used: Lavender Copic Multiliners, Copic Markers,
Primsacolor Markers, and a Uni-ball Signo White pen.

Akina and The Warden, Krutis Amell. Why haven’t ya’ll seen many drawings of Krutis…? Well, he’s usually appearing in the comic more so than illustrations, so if you want to see more of him – go to Dragon Age: ECHO‘s site.

One thing I love about Krutis and Akina, they have a mostly-green clothing/colour palette with warmer skin + hair colours. I have no idea why that’s so fascinating to me, but it just is. It doesn’t help that Brutus has mostly a blue colour scheme and Cuán mostly has a red scheme…

Digital Art – Pokémon BLUE

Watermark'd

I coloured the Pokémon team sketch I did a few days ago since I just wanted too. It’s been a while since I’ve did a digital Pokémon drawing – I lovelovelove drawing my Pokémon teams whenever I have a team I adore.

I tried to take inspiration from my old Pokémon drawing of me and my SoulSilver main, Question the Frealigatr.

One of these days, I’m going to do a Nuzlocke and post it for ya’ll.

Uh…Cuán, I don’t think Autumn is a good person to get comfort from – she’s up to no good, honestly. In fact, I think she’s the last person you should go too — maybe go to your commander.

This was originally going to be a watercolour painting, but…Well, take a look at what me using masking fluid for the first time looks like:

Digital Art – Commander Cain Shepard

Watermark'd

A (belated) birthday gift for one of my close + amazing friends, Fox. I love, love, love their characters and character designs, and they’re one of the main reasons why I keep on trying creating new and interesting characters. 💗

I swear, I’ve attempted to marry half of the character they’ve made – and they’ve made a lot.

I suggest checking out Fox’s facebook, Instagram, Tumblr if you like interesting characters and great pieces of art.

Digital Art – Out of the Lake

Watermark'd

While battling a serious sinus infection (yet again), I doodled a picture of my DnD babe, Alivia. I really love her, even if she doesn’t love herself (curse her races’ ideas of beauty!).

I used Photoshop Elements for this for once, just because I wanted to spite the idea of needing to get Photoshop CC to be a professional. Since you really don’t.

Supplies Used: Photoshop Elements, my Yiynova MSP19U+ Tablet.

Traditional Art – From the Dark

Watermark'd

Once in a while, I use the good old “100 Theme” Challenge for prompts. That’s where my Purple Flowers’ illustration came from as well. For those who weren’t around in deviantART from the years 2008 to like 2010, the 100 Theme Challenge is basically a list of 100 prompts that you choose from. Normally, people do it in order, but I like to use a random number generator and get a number that way – more fun, way more random.

The prompt from this challenge that I got was “Dark” – which I drew up two concepts I really like from. I’ll get around to the second concept in a little bit.

In this illustration, I have Brutus and two one off-characters I drew once-upon-a-time, the elf and cleric unknown of the rouge hidden behind the trees….Or are they unaware? For all we know, the elf could very well know that Brutus is hidden, and is secretly wishing for his rescue!

Winsor and Newton Pro Markers, and a Sakura White Gelly Roll.
